About

WHERE SEA MEETS LAND THERE IS SPACE FOR GROWTH, CONNECTION AND ADVENTURE

Where Sea Meets Land was founded to inspire people to experience the unique bond between sea and land, the source of life on our planet. Together, you form the expedition team: you sail, explore, and grow as a group. By facing challenges together, you discover not only nature, but also yourself and each other. Discover, connect, and grow where sea meets land...

Our journey started during my studies. As a young skipper I set out on yearly sailing expeditions with friends to roam over Europe’s seas and discover for us new coastlines. Soon I started to see that being at sea in this setting did something with people. Experiencing the sea proved to be a source of energy for the people on land. I could see what comradeship was created on board in such short time. The whole environment we faced made us tapping unused potential. Almost instantly people were out of daily routines. Without noticing they started to build and strengthen their team skills to optimize for a goal we set together. The feelings while going from a nature environment to a coastal human settlement were always impactful. They triggered many conversations about how we organize ourselves on land. And once home, after some good hours of sleep and back on the job the whole adventure delivered loads of energy.

Along the way I started to realise the power of the sea as source of energy for the land, was also about the ecology of sealife. I have to admit the first time you face dolphins swimming with your sailboat, you are definitely in awe. But there is so much more life in the sea than the obvious beautiful animals we think of. And all this life in the sea, covering 70% of our planet, is working every day to build the climate, oxygen- and food supply. Talking about energy, this is the must have of life at our planet! I encourage everyone to watch the documentary Ocean by David Attenborough to bond with that energy.

In the mean time we set out with people and organisations to experience this energy themselves and let the sea be more part of our lives.
